Hey,
I'm new to this and looking to get involved in photography.
It is something which really excites me and is something which I would do whilst going fishing.
Just wondering if this would be a good idea or whether I should begin at shooting other things.

Thanks :)
Stephen

Hi Stephen

Welcome to TP

Photography's good for your fishing shots, but you'll probably advance onto landscapes, birds, and all subjects pretty quickly as well now youve been bitten, look forward to seeing your work

A great place to start I would think. Lovely natural surroundings, a perfect time to utilise the time waiting for a bite - pictures of your catch, or of your mates fishing.

Looking forward to seeing some stunners, of you combining both hobbies.

Shoot what you enjoy shooting not what you should or shouldnt.. Sounds like a great match to me.. fishing and photography.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I have yet to buy any equipment. Not too sure what's good and what's not.
It's mainly fishing I'm looking to begin photographing but eventually I'd like to move onto football.
I was also wondering what computer software I would need, e.g. photoshop.
I have just under £300 to spend on a camera and was wondering what you guys could recommend?
Thanks :)

Hi Stephen and :welcome: to TP.

With that budget you may want to take a look at the 2nd hard market, take a look in the for sale section, you may be able to pick up a decent entry level DSLR. I only know the Nikon range so can't comment on the others, but you could probably get a D50 for about £200 and not much more with a lens. A cheap zoom I could recommend is the Tamron 55-200mm which punches above its weight and again is a good entry level lens.

Hope this helps,

Lee

Thanks Lee, that's a big help. :)
I'll have to have a look and take your advice.
Not too fussed about a top quality camera, just something to get started. :)
