HeWhoKnows Project 52 (2011) - Week 10 added - TRIO

Great and original take on the theme, very impressive. Colours and lighting work for me :)

Thanks, really enjoyed setting this one up so it was an enjoyable photo to take. Was actuaslly gonna try and draw a gangster style face on the applecore to give it something extra butr decided against it in the end.

Glad you all loike it though :)

Hiya Matt,

WOW!!! How did I miss this one? That is absolutely brilliant! I can feel the vibes booming out at me on the first one, excellent effect.

You have put a lot of thought into this and applied creativity which I like :D The title fits the image to a T, fab play on words and perfect choice of font too.

Well done and I look forward to hopefully see more of your creative thinking (no pressure) but I just enjoy seeing how people interpret the different themes.

Cheers

Dawn :)

It's not often that a "gimmick" filter does anything but ruin an image, but for once your "hard"core applecore really really works. Great work, and a nice fun interpretation!

Week6....Clutter. Right up my street, my house is one big clutter bomb waiting to explode mainly due to 2 small children and my wifes love of clothes.

With this in mind I couldnt pass up the opportunity to use her incredibly tidy wardrobe for this weeks theme. Believe me, my side is much tidier!!

2 versions here, creative colour and mono.

As always, C&C most welcome. And I must say a massive thanks to everyone who commented on my week 5 submission, was blown away by the kind comments

Hiya Matt

How does your OH manage to find anything in there? although i must admit it is a lot tidier than my own, so don't suppose I have much room to talk

Great take on the theme and I much prefer the colour version which gives it more character and like the the text in your border with fits the theme too.

I'm not sure the b&w works for this image, it makes it look quite dull and also your title in the border is lost in the dark background, but that is only my opinion.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Matt Just found your 52 project

I really like your imaginative photos. It's not easy thinking of something new every week is it?

Week 5 Hard is fabulous - very interesting interpretation of hard, and your daughter is cuteness brushing her teeth

@Dawn, Tell me about it, its always like that and e3ven spills out onto the bedroom floor most of the time lol!!!

@Sonriendo: This is my first 52 and yeah its defo hard thyinking of original ideas every week. But I guess thats what will make us all better toggers in the long run.

Thanks for the kind words about my daughter, she is an angel

Lol nice one Matt :). My wife would murder me if I exposed her clutter. I am pretty balance between the black and white and the colour ones.

And I thought Andy was brave with his shot but this weeks bravery award goes to you.
I can only presume that neither you or Andy's other half know about TP.

Love the colours in the first one, reminds me of colours in film prints from the seventies. Not sure if you have processed them that way or not. Also like the font in the border.

lol, so true mate. If she knew her waredrobe was all over TP then im sure id be in for it :bat:

In regards to the colours, yeah i processed them. I was actually going for the retro 70's look so im really happy that you made that comment. ;)

Had so many high expectation for this weeks theme, had loads of ideas but a stupidly stressful week at work has meant no fun time with my camera...boo!!

So ive had to turn to a photo I took over christmas of my eldest daughter, Emily aged 6 who suffers from Dyspraxia. It was taken with my wifes point & shoot so isnt the best image, but the day brings back so many memories of the way we felt and of how proud we were of her getting up there and joining in. She looked so sweet and delicate with her wand and wings sprinkling christmas joy on everyone

As always C&C welcomed

Hiya Matt,

Emily is such a gorgeous looking little girl who appears happy and enjoying herself at the party and I think you have captured the moment well (especially as you were using a p&s camera). Indeed you deserve to be proud of her for the achievement.

I think the softness of the photo adds to your description of 'sweet and delicate'. Also the way you have captured the legs of the adults in the background emphasises the delicateness of Emily compared to those around her.

Love the bit of catchlight in her eyes and the little sparkle/shine on her lower lip.

Understandably we all have busy times and as you say work can get in the way of having fun with the camera, so you did well posting this photo for this week's theme.

Thanks for sharing your special moment with us.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Matt,

What a beautiful shot for delicate - and IMO it doesn't matter at all that it was taken on a P&S. In fact, it's one of those occasions where that slight softness and graininess adds something to the overall image.
I bet you and her mum were so proud of her. My friend's son also has dyspraxia, so I appreciate what a challenge it must have been for her to join in with something like that.

I also really like your shot for hard.
Extremely creative and although I can see what you meant about the lighting, I really don't think it detracts much from the overall piece.
Personal preference rather than anything else, but I don't think you needed to add the filter in PP either. The original, unedited one is more than strong enough to stand just as it is.

Hi Matt the "delicate" pic is just wonderful. A beautiful and enchanting portrait. I like the softness - it really suits this image.

I'd be tempted to blur the background a little as the legs are slightly distracting. But great shot overall

Really stuggled with workload to get anything done for week 8, hence my submission being a day or so late :nono:

Anyway, had to think of what i could shoot from around the home and there is nothing more chaotic than the kids bedrooms, toys everywhere. I swear they must pile all their toys in the centre of the room and let a toy handgrenade go off!!

I like it - good image...
...and all those doll will be worth a fotune one day :)

Hi Matt, Great shot for Chaos, provided kindly for you by your daughters again.

I don't think you are actually late submitting as the deadline used to be Sunday along with the new theme announcement . As far as I understand the Mods said that people could please themselves whether or not they stick to a Sunday submission and announcement day. Anyhow, no-one will lynch you. Being late adds an element of Chaos anyway.

Nice shot

Hi, Matt, thumbs up for hard(core) made me smile...:)

Delicate, really like this one and the misty effect really adds to the image as does the little star head dress she has one.

Chaos, you've certainly 'filled the frame', pp's a bit marmite??

Anyway, some great stuff and I'm sure we'll be seeing more input from your daughter...

Cheers.

Loving that post processing! Nice one :)

Thanks mate, i keep going back to it and thinking it a load of rubbish lol. Was a very rushed shot and didnt have much thinking given too it, but hey Ive been a busy guy with work so i just wanted toi get a submission in.

Will try harder this week :D

That looks more like a drawing than a photo! What are your PP secrets?!

Hiya Matt,

Well done, that is a great image .... what pp'ing did you use?

Agree it looks like a drawing, which I like (I love playing around with post processing techniques :D).

 about the 'toy handgrenade' ... and totally relate to it!

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Matt

Lasagne... my favorite ,scrummy

love the colors & the background makes me think you've left it out for the wildlife to finish off

Nice one Matt,
You have obviously put a lot of thought into the colours, setting and composition. I really like it. I am still scratching my head on this theme.

Martin

Hiya Matt,

Great take on the theme and love the composition and colours. The spotty plate and the green grass makes me think you ate al fresco :)

Now if Garfield had been around the plate would have been licked clean

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Well spotted - Good shot
Obviously a hardy lot in Shropshire, winter picnic on the grass and in the rain as well

Hi, Matt, love the plate and my, that's green grass!

You (nearly) finished take is a nice one...

Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback guys

The grass is actually a table covering we've got that the kids use when they are enjoying their 'messy time', which usually involves lots of paint, foam or other sticky stuff. We just left it down for tea time and it luckily made a nice backdrop for this week theme :D

Rightio, here is my submission for week 10 - Trio. This is actually a shot i took this weekend which is going to be part of an assignment submission im doing for my OCA photography degree but felt it fitted this weeks theme perfectly so its getting used here too.

This is a shot of 3, or a trio, of tomatoes. It was taken in my home studio box with lighting from the side using a basic office desk lamp. Processed to give a split tone effect.

C&C welcomed

Hiya Matt,

A trio indeed, and well done with the processing and lighting. Split toning is not something I tried yet, so can't comment to much on the technique, however I think that the tomatoes could have benefitted from a bit more of a reddish hue in the toning.

Would be nice to see this one in colour too, just to do a comparison and to learn from the technique.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)
