This isn't about photography - but I know photographers are a caring lot.

Some of you know I am involved with a charity called Heroes On the Water UK. Well today we had some majorly good news direct from the Charity Commissioners themselves. This is what the message said:

We are pleased to tell you that HEROES ON THE WATER UK has achieved charitable status and has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1155380. The decision to register HEROES ON THE WATER UK was based on the information supplied during the application process. We are satisfied that HEROES ON THE WATER UK is established for charitable purposes only for the public benefit.

This is a fantastic achievement for nine months of dedicated work on the part of the trustees: Paul Fennell, Martin Hurst, David Taylor and Ed Gibson and a little bit of input from me.

Folks, if you don't know about Heroes On the Water UK, please have a look at the website, like the facebook page - but more importantly, if you, or maybe your club, are looking for a worthwhile cause to do even a little bit of fundraising for, or could run a fishing competition in aid of, it would be very much appreciated.

Never heard of Heroes on the Water before but I'll spread the word on a fishing forum or two.:)

Thanks very much Ed - it doesn't have to be fishng orientated. We have some girls who have decided to raise funds by having coffee mornings, safari parties, curry nights - how about a photographic competition? Anything is possible and equally valid!

Of course - it could be equally as valid for photographers to have a fund raising competiton - any kind of fundraising for a very worthwhile cause. A group in S. Wales have been doing a monthly curry night. You know what they say - every little helps.
Thanks very much.
