Stop being so British. There are millions of kids in Europe who still have yet to receive their Christmas presents.

Well I'm glad they don't. It all looks lovely...Is it really so offensive or annoying to you to see some decorations?

Offensive... No
Annoying....deeply.

I'm looking forward to celebrating the last day of Christmas on 6th Jan. Couple more pressies, another lovely meal. And finally my kings making it round the room to arrive in my nativity

First day of Christmas is 25th Dec.
Last is 5th Jan.....if you adhere to the 12 days cobblers

Err for me Christmas is 7 Jan - Julian Calendar - same as Russian Orthodox [ and I'm not Orthodox ]

We get our pressies then :)

See? So many different dates and that's why it's all cobblers :D

To me it's not cobblers. 6th January is the Epiphany and always has been. That is the last day of Christmas for us. I never mentioned 12 days

For me it starts on 5th December with St Nicholas...then all the way until epiphany...

I make an amazing galette des Rois  trouble is, I've lost my fève :(

Not always.
Since February 1582.
Quite a long time after the alleged birth of christ. ;)

My family aren't quite that old. And for us it always has been 6th Jan. Must you always have to argue every little detail?

Ruth replied - "Who cares?"

Many a true word spoken in jest .............. :)

I don't. Only some. Like everyone else. :-)

I'm not going to bother as you'll probably find something else to pick at. When my husband says to go and give him a hand next time, I might just do that instead of skiving off and coming in here

Xmas is s*** whichever day you want to have it on.
Nah, only in the weekends, otherwise at least it is a day off :) But seriously though, it is what you want it to be...If you want it to be s***, then go ahead....I like it, just like any other day in the day, and prefer to have nice, fun and loving days...

Jeez Kelly I apologise.
I was being lighthearted.....hence the smilies.
Knock yourself out....enjoy epiphany.

The oldest branch of European christianity is the orthodox church (IIRC) and their christmas is 6/1.

I've a feeling - not going to look it up as I'm feeling lazy , that it's the Armenians who celebrate Christmas on the 6th Jan

I was right - Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates Christmas on Jan 6 :)

The Russian Orthodox Church and those who also use the Julian Calendar celebrate Christmas on Jan 7

Haha it was knocking down walls. I joined in, it was cathartic :)

Whose face did you imagine was the wall? :P
