...during my recent diversification in life, I have been spending more time talking to the lovely senior citizens of the U.K.but today a thought appeared in my mind...What am I expecting from old age....personally I don't really have an idea of what to expect apart from hoping for long life...any others here with expectations and I would love to hear from our senior members of TP with their stories of how their life has been affected by the rolling on of age....

Never enjoyed myself so much since I retired!
I've been all over Europe, done most of our lovely country, go walking, taking pics any time I want.
I can get way with things I would never have done when younger (retorts of silly old sod don't bother me!)
Play in a team sport (and individual) still have reasonable health (few more aches and pains) and have a reasonable income.
Loving it!

I hope to have a few years of retirement, free from serious illness, poverty and golf.

Hopefully still going to the gym and hitting the weights big time.

A long life only if I am still able to enjoy it :)
As long as I can get about and am still mentally competent then that is all I ask.
If not then bring on voluntary euthanasia, I don't want to carry on in that way

Take my seat in the house of lords, that would be nice.

Since I've retired I'm busier than ever, not sure how I ever managed to fit work into my life tbh. Nothing to fear about old age as long as you keep healthy and your mind occupied (plus a decent pension helps of course). Some of my mates have gone down the "sitting at home watching Homes Under the Hammer in your underpants every day" route since giving up work, I couldn't stand that.
