I took on board what everyone was saying about the speed of the site, image size, no next button on photos (just move your mouse ) and all the other stuff.

Therefore I've been working on the website over the last couple of days to fix these problems and it's at last done!!!

Cherryrig Photography Ver II

Hope the changes made are a lot better now??

Thanks

Comments :)

its a bit slow???

just kidding, looks good to me

Seems a bit slow loading? :exit: Just kidding :D

It's really good, snappy, the lighbox plugin works well with the site.. small crit would be the thumbnails maybe a touch on the small side, but thats minor.

Your contact form is a bit of an issue though, why not have a proper contact form, rather than just an email address, which is quite likely to get spammed. If you do want to keep the email address... will you be able to get a matt@cherryrigphotography.co.uk email address?

Most hosts provide email addresses, depending on who you go with.

More over, the photos are excellent

EDIT: Damn, beaten to the slow joke :p

:D

looks great, i didnt see your other attempt, but i think this one really very good..

At the moment mattyh it's not my url or host I'm using. A guy on here said I could use his old site for a while to fix stuff. I would however think about doing that then I get my own site :)

I'd be happy to get any e-mails as well hahaha :)

Also when you see the size of the last thumbnails, they were tiny! I like them how they are really, not too big and too small.

I thought you were hosting with someone else, but certainly something to consider in the future :)

I didn't see the old thumbs, so nothing to compare against, so fair play if you're happy with them

Yea I am hosting with someone but I didn't set it up, a guy on here let be borrow his old host that he had for a while as he didn't use the site any more.

The font is Helvetica with a 1px stroke around it. Maybe it's the stroke thats the trouble?!

Looks good to me, great selection of images too. Only thing I'd change is the borders on the thumbnails - I wouldn't have them blue like that, I'd make them one of the colours used for the rest of the site.

I hate it because it makes me want to go out and buy a fisheye lens :wave::bonk:

It's a nice clean site, quick to load, nice navigation. I like it :)

Two things though ...

It seems to hang (for me) when loading the Arch De Tremoif image. And I think there's one weak image on the site, the Winchester Cathedral shot ... and you know what they say "Your portfolio is only as good as your weakest shot"!

Added the new logo up which davenjulie made for me (thanks)

Also got rid of that rubbish blue border link around the photos which Ian T said about

I'll change those two photos that Mohain said later on

Anything else guys???

I like that a lot mate, just need to sort out a proper contact form otherwise your inbox will be full with spam. Um tasty..

About the contact form,

Before when we have made websites at college with contact forms, when you press the submit button the information sent comes out in a really funny format and file document.
Anyone know some more about this??

Hi Matt

I use the form gen, I gave you the link to and it always returns a easily understood email request

E-mail ....blah
Name ....blah
Subject ....blah
contact tele ....blah
Comments ....blah

depending on your info required with or without validation, also goes to a thank you, page or if filled in wrong an error page,

HTH

Dave

Hi matt just tried it didn't work, I know it sounds daft but did you upload the php file, and second is your hosting php enabled, if not you will need to use the perl version (cgi)

Dave

Hi matt

think I know what it is on your contact page

Code:
<p align="left">Comments:(<span class="style10">*</span>) <br>
                <textarea name="textarea" cols="30" rows="4"></textarea>

think it should be

Code:
<p align="left">Comments:*(<span class="style10">*</span>) <br>
                <textarea name="Comments" cols="30" rows="4"></textarea>

change "textarea" to "Comments"

Hope that's it you might need to check your php file is the same

Dave
