And finally, it transpires that bristol photographer 'Bristol Pete' has finally made the move to Nikon. In a statement from Nikon HQ in Japan, senior marketing manager Fuji Yamada had this to say "At Nikon, we are honoured to have a talent such as Pete ***** on board. As a photographer he is up there with the best and can compliment key Nikon users such as Dave Black and Ken Rockwell. This is again testament to the swing back towards Nikon from photographers worldwide!"
Adding to the statement Nikon UK's PR team helmed by Kendo Nagasaki had this to say - "We are delighted - its not everyday someone like Bristol pete buys two D300's, a 70-200 F2.8, a 18-200VR, an SB800 and two Nikon bags"
In the meantime Bristol pete was unavailable for comment but a close friend of his said " Having known Pete all my life, I can honestly say that he is delighted" "He was getting tired of the service from Canon - misfocus issues, slopped view finders, ropey consumer optics and poor customer relations forced his hand"
It is thought that the mysterious Bristol Pete has gone into hiding for fear of a reprisal from Canon fan-boys. The Banksy-esque Pete, though not as rich but better looking is fearful of the 'Nikon SUX, Canon ROCK' American vernucular that can be found on various forums.
Canon had no comment to make but an insider said "hardly surprised, after all of quality control is shocking"
Pete's agency had this to say "About bloody time. We have a 400mm Nikon 2.8 that is gathering dust. At last, some images with great toning and colour"
Good night.
