The brass spigot that has the two different sized threaded studs screws into the base of the radio triggers I'm using, and the hot shoe flash sits on the trigger.
How are you triggering your flash?
If your not using an external trigger you'll need an adaptor or clamp instead of the trigger. The Canon speedlights are supplied with a foot that has a thread in the base that can be used for example.
