Hello I am Nikki sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but I need some help. I hope someone can help me, my husband told me i can pick a camera for my birthday and i have been doing some research but the one thing i dont know is which is better well let me start by saying what I have so far the .. Sony alpha 300, Canon rebel Xs, and the Nikon D60 are my options but when i compared them the only difference really was the exposure... sony 2 stops in 1/3 incraments, canon 3 stops in 1/3 incraments and Nikon is 5 stops in 1/3 incraments so i really dont know which better can someone help please?

Hi Nikki, welcome to TP.

The best thing to do is go along to a shop and try holding the cameras, feel which sits best in your hands and you'd be most comfortable with.

If you can't press the buttons or use the menus quickly you'll miss the shots you want, no matter what features the camera has... unless Nikon or Sony have added a time machine function recently, I know Canon haven't ;)

Ahh, time machine function for the 40D - top of my wish list. ;)

Welcome Nikki! Just what Rick says, compare before you buy. To me, the feel, weight...etc. was just as important as what the camera could do. Don't buy without having a play first. If it 'feels wrong' chances are you're feeling the wrong thing!

Good luck.

Hi Nikki, welcome to the forum... from the reference to the Canon it sounds like your based over in the states. As some others have said, the Talk Equipment section might be a good place to start. Would be worth while trying to get to a store to at least hold some of the cameras to work out which feels right if possible....
