There's a Shootout that's been set up for young, aspiring racing drivers to go head-to-head through a series of driving / racing challenges, the winner of which will get a free season in Formula BMW, GP2 and possibly even F1.

My 17 year old son Alex Gassman has been racing our Toyota MR2 for a couple of years, and is leading the MR2 Racing Series this year. He beat a Le Mans and British GT4 champion in his last race at Snetterton a couple of weeks ago! You can see more about him here www.alexgassman.com The Shootout is a fantastic opportunity to progress his career, but it cost £9k to enter this shootout, which we don't have. Without something like this he will never be able to move up the motorsport ladder, however good a driver he is.

Please could you take 15 seconds to vote for him on the link below, and tell all of your friends to vote too before the end of September. The three drivers with the most votes get a free entry to the competition to prove what they can do. You can vote up to 10 times per email domain per IP address.

There are about 100 drivers registered for this and Alex was ranked about 8th earlier today in "profile buzz" (above Lewis Hamilton!), so with just a few more votes we can get him up there! Thanks.

Edit: Alex has now offered passenger laps in his race car at a UK track to three lucky winners, all you have to do is forward your validation email to "prize at alexgassman.com" and you will be entered into the draw. See his website for more details.

I clicked the link but there doesn't seem to be anything asking for a vote? Where should I be looking?
 
Wow thanks everyone a great response. There is nothing we would like more than to be able to host you all at Spa or Monaco, maybe oneday ....

Thanks again guys, a fantastic response, and yes based on profile views he was no 1 yesterday.

Can I just check that you have been receiving a confirmation email to click on to confirm your vote? I have tried voting myself twice from different email addresses and they haven't come through to me for some reason? Some people have said they ended up in their spam box.
 
Yes as you can see I just voted and within 2 minutes the e mail came to my inbox.
 
Another four from me :thumbs: Had a look at his videos, just one bit of advice, tell him to stop using the brakes!! that just slows you down :lol:

2 votes from me (I hope). Work came through within a couple of minutes, still waiting at home after a couple of days, so I manually did that one. Maybe they treat my home email as spam!

That is the correct page. You will see a black box about half way down slightly to the right, just underneath that is a box for you to put your email address in, then click the red vote button. If by any chance the confirmation email doesn't come through to you then simply send a blank email to gpspoll@driverdb.com and your vote will be registered.

Thanks very much to everyone for all your fantastic support, Alex was number 1 again today! It is a shame the voting goes on until the end of the month, we need to keep them coming in for a while yet!
 
There seems to be a problem with the page that they are moving servers so nobody is able to vote at the moment so hopefully if he is still number, lets hope it takes them a month to sort it out.

When they have sorted it, set him a facebook page up asking people to vote.
 
The server was down this morning while they replaced it with a faster one as it couldn't cope with all the people voting! It is working nice and quickly now so voting only takes seconds, please people keep voting there is a while to go yet!

Well, we had a fantastic start to the voting earlier in the month, helped in no small part by TP togs, but Alex has slipped back now to about 5th place with almost two weeks still to go. He seems to have been overtaken by a couple of ladies in particular, no idea why that should be:thinking:

Is there anyone out there who hasn't voted yet and would be willing to give it a go, just 20 secs is all it takes over at http://www.driverdb.com/drivers/43295/ If you have multiple email addresses you are allowed to vote once from each (max 10 times from 1 IP address).

We have been thinking about the idea of Alex offering a free passenger ride in his car on a track day to 2-3 people who have voted, do people think this would be a good idea? Would it encourage stragglers to vote and pass it on to their friends? We were originally planning on offering the free rides to a childrens charity, but having spoken to a couple it seems that our health and safety, risk assessment and CRB culture makes it impossible for them to take up our offer, much as they would like to.
