Pixels per inch is irrelevant for web use.
All a computer screen will do is look at the overall pixel count of width and height and then display it so that each pixel in that measurement equals a pixel on the screen. So on a 1920px display a 1024px image will take up just over half the width of the display for example 300ppi or 1ppi is irrelevant.
Ppi comes into printing sizes, which is why it gets confused with dpi (dots per inch) a characteristic of how printers lay down ink which is also unrelated.
In print the ppi is key, take the same 1024px wide image and print it at a decent resolution of 300ppi and it will only be about 3 1/2 inches wide.
Ppi, print size and viewing distance is a whole new discussion though.
