I've just bought the Westcott Lighting stand, bracket and umbrella (one which has removable black cover.)

I'm going to use it with my Nikon SB600 flashgun. I know this sounds like a dumb question but how far away should I set the umbrella from my flashgun?

Is there an easy way to fold the umbrella back up? I spend about half an hour trying to get it to fold properly so that I could get it back in the little sleeve it came with.

Now I've got the equipment I've just got to persuade hubby to be my model. I think that's going to be the really difficult bit.:bang:

A new grandaughter is about to arrive in 4 weeks time so any advice on photographing mother and baby with my new set up would be very welcome please.

Surely it cant be that hard to fold an umbrella Barbara

Check out their website http://www.fjwestcott.com/

Well I can seem to make a mess of it.:bonk: I put all the little bits on that hold the black cover on, and then when I fold it up they all fall back off. In the end I just gave up putting it back tidy and just screwed it up and stuffed it in its little bag. I was wondering if it's better to take the black cover off and then just put it on separately when I need it. :thinking:I just don't want to wreck my investment.

Blimey I have enough trouble stopping my small umbrellas falling over outside
