Beginner Help with stacking images

Im trying to stack 20 images that I took of a wind turbine. In all images, the blades are in a different position. After stacking them, I'm hoping the turbine will resemble a large flower. Ive seen this done before.
I'm using Starstax to upload and process them but when it stacks the images, the blades completely disappear and I'm left with the first unedited photo with blades and 19 photos with missing blades. The rest of the photo stays fine.
Can anyone help please?

I don't have Photoshop.

That is a two steps process, Jason.
  1. the stacking
  2. the composition
The stacking you got. Next, in a pixel editor, add in layers the
blades and flatten.

I don't use anything Adobe but Affinity Photo with great pleasure.

You could do this with just one image.
What you have to do is carefully copy the blades and put them on a new layer. Then reposition them to suit. Repeat as often as needed.
 
I was using starstax as apparently it does everything for you. Just upload the pics, press process and away it goes.
 
I fancy a challenge. Put up a single shot with static seeming blades and I'll have a play tomorrow.

I'm not at all familiar with that program, but it looks like you have it set to "median" where it removes things that are not in the other layers.

You are spot on there. I've tried it and it looks awful. Not fit for publication.
Most folk look at a flower from the front so a shot from the front is needed.

I'm not too sure that even Starstax will give a "perfect" flower. That depends on having the turbines evenly spaced. Catching the right positions with a camera is hard. One shot and manipulate the blades to suit is probably the least arduous method.

Jason, if you can get a full frontal shot I'll have another play for you.
 
Yes. Thanks guys. It was more of a trial and error pic. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

That wasn't in the brief:p

But thinking about it.....it's difficult to make anything out of a pole with a spinner on top unless you go down the route of composition. Then you need someone more arty farty than I am:D
