Right, I'm looking to upgrade my PC in the next few months. I've built several PCs in the past, but the last one was about 5 years ago! I am now totally out of touch with current technology so I could do with a bit of help with what to go for. I will probably just upgrade the innards of my current system (mobo, processor, memory and perhaps a faster drive for the OS). I mainly run Capture NX2 for editing. Not looking for a gaming machine, just photo editing. Looking to spend about £400.

Any suggestions?

A reasonable, yet awful attitude lol. There's always a new product coming out soon, if you follow that advice you'd never buy anything...

Not that it makes you feel any better when your 'brand new' computer is superseded just weeks after you buy it...

@davekiddle: For £400 you could easily upgrade to an i5 setup with a shedload of memory (say 8GB)...

If you can, I'd go for a solid state drive as well - because they're wicked, one of my best upgrades ever.
 
Karl, Lucas was right, its like asking someone to tell the future. There is no point asking now if you want to build in a few months. You have to be fast and furious in this game.

Hi Dave, long time no see - we must get out as a group again soon. Anyway, just get yourself a nice big imac, I've just upgraded my mac mini to a 27" imac :D. You will love it. Put it on your card. ;)
