help with sound forge audio studio

any experts on sound forge here, need some help with getting a signal into sound forge to record.

i have a edirol fa-66 (audio capture device) for which i have installed the 64-bit driver in windows 7. i get sound via the fa-66 into the laptop but when i arm sound forge to record i get no signal. i've run out of ideas on what to do next............

I use sound forge now and again but can't say I've recorded with it.

Most programs use whatever is set as default in windows. If you go to sound in control panel what is set as default device on the recording tab? Your device may only be listed if connected at the time.
