the venue will be in a hotel in the day time kinda dark please please help me

thanks

You need a fast shutter speed for this,
set the camera to AP or aperture priority, open up to widest aperture

f1.8,f2.8,f3.5,.......... f11,f16,f22. and so on.

^^^^ ^^^^^

this end is widest This end is darkest

Don't know you're lens so just giving example.......

Then if the shots still blurred you will have to alter the ISO

Some start at ISO 100,ISO 200,ISO 400,ISO 800.etc

The ISO gets you a quicker shutter speed ,but at the loss of image quality.

You will have to have a play to get the best IQ (image quality)

Sorry,I'm not a great teacher ..........:(

Get a book on exposure. You'll need high ISO, large aperture (f2.8 or smaller number) and a shutter speed at least 1/focal length but maybe at least 1/100th to minimise subject motion (maybe faster)

The problem you are experiencing is caused by a slow shutter speed, which is recording subject and/or camera movement, resulting in the blurred bits.

To get a higher shutter speed to counter this problem, you need to select a wider aperture (smaller number) and/or a higher ISO setting.

My other hobby is dancing so I've started trying to find a good way of shooting dancers in low light (no overhead lights, just some lights at the side where people sit, mostly disco lights on the dance floor). I got a flash on Saturday which helped a lot - I used a 50mm prime at f4, just had the shutter speed at 1/60 and bounced the flash off the ceiling. This was enough to freeze the movement. I wasn't trying to take any shots of the lights, but I have shots where the coloured lights show up on the dancers.

I found my Sony struggled at higher ISO, so try to keep it below 1600 where possible. I assume your using the kit lens which is (IIRC 3.5/5.6) Again, I would go for faster glass as said above. Its ok for a walk around but its not super in low light situations.

I think I used Sigma 28-70 2.8 which worked well. Bought from eBay for around £80.
