I picked one up fairly recently and normally look on you tube at how others set there's up and use that as a starting point. I've struggled to find anything similar for the 1d4.

In the main I'm looking at the autofocus side of things.

Yes I know I can use the manual, but I prefer to understand how others use there's.

So, what I have.

Back button focus in operation.

In the autofocus menu, these are different than default.

4 : set to continuous AF track priority

8 : I toggle as I go. I would like to set this as a custom setting, but can only seem to be able to set the whole autofocus menu, not an individual part within it. Am I doing it wrong?

11: set to switch with

16: set to select different AF points

I shoot mainly my family mucking around. Kids playing etc. On occasion I do sport stuff such as Motorsport, athletics.

If you are doing similar how do you set yours up? Am I missing some amazing stuff that you guys are using?

Oh and I do sometimes playing with the tracking sensitivity, although I have only just worked out how best to use this.

One subject moving around - slow sensitivity.
Lots of subjects, switching between them, high sensitivity

Or that's how I see it in any case

A 1D 4 for mainly used for shots of the family mucking about. The 1D 4 will cope with those family mucking about shot straight out the box, honest.

My understanding of the tracking sensitivity is that the high sensitivity will make it pick up anything that moves between you and the focus subject. So, if you were shooting a football match, with lots of movement, it would be constantly re-focussing . I have one and the only adjustments i've made are BBF and expanded focus points (focus tracking). You may find this very helpful in getting to know your options.
