Help with setting exposure time

Okay so im off out this evening to do a light trail shoot, hopefully!

The issue i have is that i cant seem to set my cameras exposure time as i dont know how to..

Anyone able to help? I have a Nikon D40x

Ive figured it, when scrolling youre supposed to just keep going, which i didnt realise

If you're going to do a light trail you'll probably want to use a remote to trigger the shutter or use the timer function to eliminate camera shake when you press the shutter. Good luck!

I can't seem to get hold of a trigger, going to try again tomorrow. I'm going to try use 30sec setting and bulb setting, see what results I can gain, thanks

You don't need a trigger, not sure about the D40 but there should be a 2 second delay mode which flips the mirror up 2 seconds before opening the shutter and thus eliminating shake
