Help with Second Body....

I need help with a choice....

I am Nikon through and through and have finally convinced my wife that I need a second body to accommodate my requirement to not keep changing lenses over.....

I currently run a D80 and was looking for something to compliment it that I can use my lenses on..........

Any recommendations would be appreciated.........

Oh and I need to sort it for Friday when I am off to the Dordogne for a week and ideally would like to take both.......

I have a D80 as my second body to compliment my D300. It makes an ideal second body so why not get another D80 to go with the one you have. You've not mentioned a budget but they aren't expensive second hand.

PS - you've left it a bit late to get it for Friday unless you are buying brand new. In which case I'd go for whatever the latest entry level Nikon body is.
 
Thanks Rob.....the wife only told me this morning that she was going to buy it for me for my birthday and it would be a good idea to get it before we go........AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH....I have only been going on about it for the last three months.......I have told her that for a second body is about 600GBP....so she is good for around that cost....
 
I could do with a new body at the moment - the one I am sitting at the moment is a bit knackered! :(

In that case you could probably stretch to a new D90 body only and have it as your main camera with the D80 becoming your second. I've just checked and a D90 body in Jessops is £649 so shop around and you could maybe get it for £600.

I don't think the D5000 has the AF motor in the body like your D80 so you would need AF-S lenses to autofocus - could be wrong though!
 
If you want to use it as a second body - as opposed to a back up body - then no question - both bodies should be identical.
