HELP with resize photo

I need help, i took up the offer with Pixum for their 24"x16" poster of a photo of my grandson, the photo i sent them looked ok on my screen but when i recieved it today it has cut the side of his head off ! I have contacted them & they said it is because it needs to be resized to on aspect ratio of 3:2, they said they will refund if i re-order but don't know how to get it to the right size to upload, i cropped the photo & i think this may be the problem ! Hope someone can help, thanks Col
 
When you crop it it should give you the option of what ration to crop it to, I use Capture NX2 and it gives 3x2, 7x5, 10x8.... I can then resize it by entering the exact dimensions for printing.
 
Colin can you post the pic here? Is the pic a 3x2 ratio? One of the most common problems is the image being one ratio and the print being a different ratio.
Now a full uncropped shot from your camera should be a 3x2, I'm assuming you haven't cropped it?

Most editing s/w allows you to constrain the crop area to retain the original ratio - sounds as though you have unlocked the constraint :)

if you use photoshop you can set the crop to whatever you like....

61cm x 40.6cm is a doddle. Select the crop tool and on the top menu bar there will be 2 input boxes for your sizes. type the sizes in but make sure you put 'cm' (if you want to use centimetres) after the digits.

The move your cursor onto the image and drag the crop rectangle over the image and this will crop and resize to whatever you have chosen for size. hit enter or click the tick and hey presto.
