Hi
I took the plunge today and purchased an Olympus e410 - so far so good!
My mum brought over my dad's old 35mm slr Olympus OMPC with a flash, 3 lenses and lots of filters.
Now I tried the lenses and they dont fit the flash did and the filters didnt - is there anyway at all to still use these? I know the lenses would only be manual but its all in mint condition and would be brill if I could use them

Thanks

Lauren :)

thanks very much! Will have a look at them :)
Didnt even think to look on Ebay!

Hi Lozz

Did you get the E-410 with kit lenses...?

Hopefully someone will step in here with more info but I would warn you against using the flash until you are sure it is ok. I seem to remember reading that old flashes used a higher voltage and they could damage the electronics in modern cameras. I may be wrong but check it before using.

The Olympus forum at dpreview or fourthirdsphoto is probably your best bet for technical questions on Oly kit.

edit: beaten to it :D

Hi Lozz

Did you get the E-410 with kit lenses...?

Hi yeah I got a deal in Currys. Not got the extra lens yet as was out of stock hope to have it next week.

So far its great! I mean right now I dont really have a clue what Im doing :bonk: but I love it and cant wait to get stuck in to it all :)

Iv not tried the flash thankfully so will have a look on those sites just to make sure its ok

Thanks for everyones help :)

Weird that Curry's didn't have the twin lens kit for the E-410. You might want to post a request in here or on the other site I posted asking if anyone has any kit lenses for sale. I have two, but I am purchasing an E-510 body for my daughter for Christmas and so she can use the two kit lenses I have... sorry!

Hi sorry Im new to this and confused - I did get the kit deal but they didnt have the other lens Im getting it though as part of the deal next week.....or is there another kit?
starting to think im in over my head lol

Hi Loz

Don't panic - I wasn't aware you had purchased any lens with the E-410. I assume you have the 14-42mm you have yeah and you're wanting the 40-150mm...?

There are two packages you can get, and this is the usual twin lens kit you get with the E-410. No panic.

Hi
Yeah I have the 17.5-45mm with the E410 and the 40-150mm Im getting next week.
Really impressed with the camera so far :)

Glad you're enjoying it Loz, it is a camera that is feature rich that's for sure. Are we going to see any of your pics then...:)

Yep hopefully just not sure how to post them!
Any tips?

Sure Loz...

In order to show your images online, you need somewhere to host your images so you can then link to them in threads on here. You can use the gallery Marcel and the team kindly supply for free here on tP, or you could use an external image host such as flikr or photobucket.

I have a photobucket account which is totally free by the way, and you can upload your images to there, and then link to them in here.

Uploading is easy, simply click the browse button (wherever you have decided to host your images) and then navigate to the location the image is stored on your PC/Mac, and the image will then be 'uploaded' to that site. With the free gallery on tP, and also with photobucket, you then see a few boxes that have code in them that you simply need to copy to a thread in here. Once you have done that, you will see your images in threads on tP.

Be aware though that there are rules and guidelines as to accepted image sizes and dimensions for display on tP.

Good luck, and please do shout if you need further help, more than willing...

brill thanks youv been a great help - think I will give it a try tomorrow though getting a bit late for me here :)
