I have a Lastolite 2 light set-up and have the lend of a 580 cannon speedlite (with no manual). I have used my 2 light set-up (one linked to camera and the other set on slave) to have a sort of studio set-up but the background is not pure white. What do I have to do to add the speedlite as an off camera flash to help blow out the background.

I have tried setting it to slave but this does not work .

Please help

Canon Speedlites will only fire in slave mode from a Canon master unit.

So you need either an optical slave with hot shoe fitting (and Canon flash compatible, which is another complication, but Sonia makes them) or probably easiest and most versatile is a simple radio trigger, eg Yongnuo RF-602 or 603, to trigger the 580 and then the studio heads will fire off that via their own slaves.

Thats great Richard, at least I know that I'm not doing something wrong.

Thanks for the advice!!!

I have had a look at the above mentioned radio triggers. Can anyone tell me more, and also which would be best?

Thanks
