I wonder if I could have some advice or criticism about my first web site! The photos are a bit slow to load but this will be fixed through time, please any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

I am not too keen on the swapping images at the top, they are a little distracting for me. I would prefer it if they changed when the viewer navigates around the page.

Pricing on the front page isnt something I would do. You want them to see the work think.. thats good i wonder how much that will cost.. then look at the pricing.

The first picture on the relationships tab looks like they are in a full on snog, only on closer inspection did I spot the prop.

Alot of the images are a similar style, I am guessing thats because you are still getting everything sorted. But its worth showing off a variety of styles and not just the plan white backdrops.

I hope you dont take any of that in the wrong way, I have never sold a photo so am talking from a buyers perspective. Overall I like the site and think with a couple of tweaks it will be great :)

These are just my initial opinions, I have several web pages and I am not the best designer myself !!

The home page has no colour, it is a photography site black and white is not right!

I would have the home page as a home page with maybe a nice pic of someone in your studio with lots of colour.

Prices etc should really be on a page off the home page.

Galleries are woefully slow but you know this already.

Clicking on "relationships" brings up three images in boxes over a larger image, the three pictures in boxes are blurred (if this is by design it is a strange decision for a photographer)

Just noticed families does something similar - really you want your best images on here and nothing blurred.

If the blurring has occurred due to re-sizing then re-size with something else, if it is due to the gallery software then again use something else.
 
Updated it today, bit better now. thanks for both your replys! Pain in the ass these things, gets in the bloody way of taking pics
 
Love the site, the pics in the relationship area done with pop colour are outstanding the only criticism i can find is the pitchers at the top by tour logo change to fast for me, the current speed does not give you time to have a good look at them but rest of the site is amazing please not take my post the wrong way, I genuinely think you site is grate.
 
I like this site! Are you sure it’s your first? As a first site it's certainly above average.

I agree which what has been said about the pictures flashing about too quickly at the top. I would say for the amount of content you have on the home page the page is very long. There is a lot of white space above and below the logo and the main picture is very big. This pushes your introductory text way below the page fold. I wouldn't worry about not having too much colour, it's your style think and I think it's fine.

Love the use of jquery for you galleries, clean quick and smooth! Good job :)
 
The first thing that struck me was the massive domain name. Perhaps jmphotography.co.uk with a redirect setup?
 
There is a little bit too much white space in my opinion, needs a bit of colour.

Or if you wanted to have the black and white thing, maybe a thicker border around the actual site itself
