Hi All...

Im working on the website today, we really need to get it looking slick as the next few weeks are going to see a big marketing push before we open.

What I would like to do - but don't know how to is have a home page which has a slideshow of images and an 'ENTER' button. Upon clicking enter it takes you into the blog side of things.

The home page would obviously have to be the basic URL and the page behind enter could be a /blog address!

The inspiration for this is http://ostudiosphotography.com/

Cheers in advance for your expect knowledge

That one doesn't have an enter button, have you tried asking on the prophoto forum or on their twitter and FB pages, they seem to get back pretty sharpish with answers.

You will need to create a page called 'Home'

In P3 Customize > Header > Masthead Image & Slideshow you can add images to create a slideshow. For each image you can add a URL and have this as your Blog URL...If that's what you mean.

If you actually want an Enter button you can upload one to the Page 'Home' and link the URL from there.

In the Wordpress Settings > Reading you'll need 'Front page displays' set to Home

Hope that helps

Thanks, it kind of makes sense, will have a look tomorrow and give it a try.

Thanks for the input.

I should have added that I'm still on ProPhoto 3, I haven't upgraded to v4 yet.

Well I'm not sure what you've done but on my (admittedly slow connection) it takes about 30 seconds to load during which time some kind of beige picture creeps slowly down the page.

When it reaches the bottom it suddenly changes to the first picture of a girl.

I suspect you have loaded the full version of this picture, several Mb, and it then gets re-sized once it has completely loaded, which will certainly eat up your data allowance big time!

If fact the slideshow alone used over 17Mb of data, so you certainly need to resize all your pics or face large bills for data!

Once the picture has been resized it then displays properly, but clicking on any of the other pics again causes a lag before they are displayed.

I'm afraid after that I just gave up.

.

The slideshow can be reduced in size.

Beige and image of a girl means nothing to me....the images are also not uploaded full size, they're uploaded at the exact size the site requires. 900px wide.

What area of the site were you in?

Matt I use a ProPhoto site now.... Trying to figure out what you want to do....

You don't need an "enter button" - My home page has the text "Step Into The Light" which I have considered changing to enter but the menu system of ProPhoto is always there - so you don't really need it.

In ProPhoto you can choose the home page to be the blog or another page.

Are you looking to creatre a seperate page altogether as a home page linking to your prophoto page?

Essentially yes...the layout and the slideshow I can deal with....actually setting it up like this is where I'm struggling.

Just finding it Matt :)

Go top the Header area.
Under Masthead Image & Slideshow I have selected the following.

Undcer Masthead display One of the options is remove masthead. Also ytou want a static front page and select remove or change on some page types

Any bother give me a bell (numbers on the web site)

Thank You!! Got it....

I couldn't see those options as I only had 'single static image' selected, they appear once you select slideshow.

You'll need to pop down and see the studio mate, the place is going to be stunning!

I will Matt. Looks great! I only just found the thread 2 mins ago! Didn't know anything about it! :)

Will try and nip down some time you're in :)

Matt
Maybe you can help me :)

How do you switch off the menu from the front page?

Its with in the menu section, click the settings icon for each menu item. Within that section is 3 tabs, click the advanced tab, then click the static page under pages not to display on.

Superb Matt thanks :)

Its finally clicked that what you were talking about was the example site I posted.....not mine. :D

No worries, I don't believe www.autumn-leaf.co.uk suffers from those issues.
