Help with m400mm 5.6 not focusing

Hi, I have just tried to use my 400mm 5.6 and I have found that it will not Auto focus or manual focus ,it worked fine yesterday and its been in my bag all day,could anyone please help to what the problem is likely to be.Thanks
 
That's a strange one, not being able to manually focus either.
Hope you get it sorted & it's not a costly one.
 
Hi, Have you tried on another camera?
What was your location when you last used the lens?
 
Hi, its definitely the lens , when it stops working I cant use manual focus or automatic, I can hear it hunting in AF however when I tap the top of the switch it worked again, but it does come and go so its obvious there is something just not right

Hi, Think it's a job for Canon dealer repair
 
Given that it wont work in either auto or manual I would guess that the gears have either jammed or are missing/broken. Either way it sounds like a trip to a repairer
 
Maybe it is stuck in LO or KF mode?.............;)
