Hope someone can help,I have been approached by a family who want me to do an outside photoshoot (6 people) and an inside shoot of their son and daughter with their graduation gowns on.I have recently bought lencarta gear but dont really have the room to transport backgrounds and softboxes
this is my 1st time doing something like this and as its going towards my portfolio i was really wanting to get it right

so I was thinking for the indoor graduation shoots to go with a white sheet, blow it out with a smartflash and then just a beauty dish with another smartflash lit head on (beside the camera)
then for the outdoor shots I have a couple of flash guns so...1 in a reflective umbrella as a main light and then 1 shoot through as a fill, the outdoor shots will be just in the garden.I dont have 2 of each umbrella so thats why 1 is shoot through and 1 is reflective

what do you think?

Hmm... Wouldn't it be better just to use a natural background, e.g. the room that the people are in, rather than try to produce an artificial white background?

Other than that, a beauty dish is fine but the light is pretty unforgiving, so needs people with good bone structure and good complexions

I wasn't sure what would be best I thought maybe the white background would make it more official that it was a graduation photo ( if that makes sense)

Most "official" graduation pics use fake bookshelves off of the 70s........

Get a bit of correx and tape some nice wallpaper to it. Bluetack it to the wall. Good for head and shoulders.
