Thumbs up Hey, new to photography and could do with some advice please...
Hi everyone,

i've just been given a basic camera to get me started (Kodak Easyshare Z812)

Im just getting started and it seems good for what I want to achieve (mainly landscapes with the panoramic setting etc)

I just need a little help with the lenses that came with it, can anyone tell me what the following are, and how they are used on the camera? (what setting on the camera I should use etc)

Adaptor Tube

58mm 2.0 telephoto lens

58mm 0.45 wide angle lens ( has a MACRO lens attatched to it that is detachable)

58mm PL Filter

58mm UV Filter

58mm close-up +8 Filter

58mm Diffuser Filter

Any help would be much appreciated, this looks a great site, can't wait to start getting out and about with the camera!

They arent lenses as such, just filters or adapters you screw on the end of the fixed lens. The 58mm refers to the size of the filter thread to screw onto the camera.

In order.

1. Adapter tube, probably to allow the other bits to fit on the lens
2. Will screw into the adapter tube or the lens itself to increase the zoom range of the lens to make it appear longer
3. Same as above but to make the view wider, and the macro bit will allow you to focus closer to subjects.
4. Just a filter to cut out reflections in water/glass etc
5. A UV filter to cut out UV glare
6. Another "macro" filter to allow greater magnification and close focus
7. A filter to give a diffused effect to the images.

You needn't change any settings on the camera I wouldn't think, just stick them on the end and use trial and error to see what works and how.
