Hey everyone, a friend of mine is a hairdresser and she is setting up a new website, she's asked me to take some photos of her for the site but she doesn't want photos of her cutting hair, she said she'd rather have some done in the studio with scissors, comb, general hairdressing equipment but I can't get any inspiration on what to do ie poses (with whatever equipment), etc. I have thought of a collage type photo to do as well but that'll be a seperate photo.

Thanks
Marco

I'm new to photography, but maybe using a shiny surface has some scissors opened laid out! It sounds and looks better in my head :) or something retro in b&w??

Hi Marco,
I just did a similar shoot for a nail salon for use on their website.

I'd be asking the questions on what style of hairdressing salon it is, who are the main customers? Twenty somethings or little old ladies? Then trying to produce poses and shots for the clients she would want to attract.
Younger/edgier clients? Darker style poses with the hairdryer as a gun in front (think the movie hitman) or use the barbers chair if you can.. hairdresser seated, head back and laughing/smiling if your aiming for a friendly place. That sort of stuff.

Also check out other hairdressers sites for ideas, thats what I did to get ideas for the nail salon.
