Help with choosing the right paper..

I've been looking at the websites of a few print labs and whilst doing so, came across the various types of paper - lustre, gloss matte and metallic. So my question is.. which type of paper is suited to which type of photography? Is it subjective or are certain types more suited to certain subjects?

What would you use for:
1. Landscapes
2. B&W
3. Fine Art
4. Portraits
5. Astro
6. Macro

What should be avoided?

Purely subjective in my view. If you are going to frame a photograph though, I would stay away from any gloss finishes as when hung on the wall the reflections can be more than a bit of a nuisance especially as you are likely to have glass in front of them as well.
