Love photography but no interest in laptops/PCs etc so need some advice .

I'm looking for a laptop for photoshop editing only , nothing else .
I have a desktop that is my workhorse but think a laptop would come on handy from time to time
I nearly bought a new MacBook Pro last night but caught myself on as it's over kill I think for me .

So I need a decent fast machine with decent screen on a budget under £800 ish

What would you recommend please folks

You will get many differing answers to this, but keep basic specs in mind whichever manufacturer you go with. I would choose a Intel core i5 at least 8GB of ram and if possible and SSD drive.

Keep an eye out for some good bargains on dell outlet website. (go for certified refurbished). I have purchased 4 so far from there and had no problems.

You will get better value for money in my opinion.

Specs wise :

Intel i7 4th/5th Gen CPU
4 or 8GB RAM (this can be upgraded)
500GB/1TB Hard Drive (the size doesn't really matter - I would change for SSD anyway for about £150 extra) or some laptops can take a mSATA SSD as well which would be cheaper.
Dedicated Graphics/Video Card would be good - as Photoshop can use the hardware to its advantage
Hi-Res Screen - would be good - depends on which size screen you buy
Backlit Keyboard - would be nice - but not really required

it may look like overkill at the moment - but in 3 years time - it will still be going strong.

Thanks all for the replies so far

When I say overkill I also mean with regards to my bank balance , I would have bought it other than the fact it was £1600.
I like the look and spec of the laptop you linked to for the price

You will need to add VAT to that price - there maybe a free delivery code on the net - also you if go via topcashback/quidco - you will get a few quick back too.

I think you need best you can afford with a large hard drive or send plus external drive pictures files eat up space

The one Sphinx posted above is a decent spec for the price.

Personally I would go with an SSD for the operating system and just use a NAS or USB drive for main storage but its down to personal preference.
