Hi All,

My grandmother has recently given me a few photos to scan and upload, and whilst most of them have scanned fine, there is one that has faded quite a bit, and I need some advice on how to get some of the detail back. Obviously there are no negatives, so it's just something that can be done with CS3.

The photo is of my Great Grandad who served in the 12th lancers in WW1

Thanks,

Very quickly done, just duplicated the layer at multiply blend mode a few times.

Ajusting levels, and playing with Topaz denoise (to remove noisy patterns) and Color styler (to put some glossy paper look) :

Did most of this in CS6 RAW - fiddled around with the shading sliders, then some NR in Photoshop, bit of sharpening. As with any of these things, a bigger file would give better results.

They all look so much better! Thanks guys. It's amazing how much difference even a simple levels adjustment makes, let alone all the more advanced stuff you lot can do!
