Help with a chosen lens

Good evening.
This is my first post after buying a Nikon d3400.
I also own a Nikon d40x

Would this lens fit and auto focus on one or both of the cameras.
A sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC (Nikon fit).

I have looked on line but the tables are a bit baffling to me.

I have also emailed the shop I wish to buy from but no replies.

Where it says this "Due to the unexpected launch of the Nikon D40 and D40x, there has been a slight delay to the release of the Nikon fit, Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS. This delay was due to a re-design of the AF motor, but we are now pleased to announce the availability of the new 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS in Nikon mount which now includes Sigma’s HSM motor at no extra charge, making it fully compatible with the Nikon D40 and D40x cameras."

As for whether it would also be suitable for the D3400...I will leave that to those with more user based knowledge.
 
If it’s the HSM version then yes it will autofocus on both. Neither of those bodies have built in focus motors, so rely on the lens having one, which is what the HSM stands for

It does not mention HSM so should I assume it does not have it?
 
Can you post a link to the sale so we can see. It’s not always listed obviously. There was a non hsm version though, so could well be that one.

That lens will not work on either body.
 
Yes, that should work for both.
