Yes
I told myself that I wasn't going to get into 120 film. However... I got lucky today and found a lovely little Zeiss Icon Nettar. It's in lovely condition. And, a real plus, there is a roll of film in it. It was near the end, I think. I have wound it on until exposed has passed the window. So that would appear to be it. I've never used one before, and to be honest I don't know what I'm doing. Do I simply open the back now?

I've only played with a couple of MF cameras a Holga and a 1930's Kodak Brownie, Keep winding the film on until it comes off the first spool then give it a couple more turns. Open the back in dull light and hold you finger on the roll as you take it out to keep some tension on it, Looking at the roll of 120 you should be able to see the end which can be stuck down to hold the tension on the film. I tend to put a little tape on the end just to make sure. I've never processed any myself so cannot help you with that end. Sorry the end is self adhesive.

Just so happened I had a roll ready to come out of the Holga !

Yes, as long as the film has wound all the way onto the take up spool, and than once it is out stick down the end or put a rubber band round it

What a coincidence @Plain Nev , I acquired a Nettar only on Friday from our local camera shop, Skears in Northampton, who were selling it serviced, with a rangefinder on top that works perfectly, and with 12 months warranty (although there's not much can go wrong). I'm looking forward to putting a film through it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a go. It really is a thing of beauty, I think. The only thing is the black paint was peeling off the frame, but that was relatively easy to clean up. Quite excited to see what is on that film, if anything. All I have to do is work out how to use it now. :D

No idea but looking forward to seeing what is on it !

If there is anything usable on it I'll be sure to post some pictures. Looks like they did produce Reala in 120 through to the early years of this century. So it might be old, but not old, old. :)

According to this link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fujifilm_Superia) Reala was discontinued in 2012. I still have a 20 roll press pack in 135 which I bought about 2005 and kept frozen until relatively recently. I actually bought two press packs but used one. If it's late Reala the results should be OK, I would think.

Fingers crossed Peter.

One thing that is concerning me a little. There is evidence of paint inside the door, but other than that it is bare metal. Would it have been painted originally?

Usually painted black inside

That's what I thought. It must have entirely flaked off, I suppose. :(

When you remove the film from the camera, fold the last half inch or so of the paper under. Then fold under again before sticking the tab down.

When you come to load the tank spiral the step caused by the folds allows you to slit the sealing tab easily with a thumbnail so you don't have to pick at the tab and cause pressure marks on the film.

Makes sense. I'll certainly bear that in mind. Firstly though I'll have to renovate the back of the camera, which has lost just about all the black paint on the inside. Should be relatively easy. I have the pressure plate off. I will remove the remainder of the paint and get my paint brush out. In theory, at least. :D

Probably worth a tin of spray primer and flat black, and clean it thoroughly with IPA (or petrol, but I won't suggest that :) ) first. If you can rub it down with 400 first all the better.

It needs something. It's just flat metal with nothing for paint to key too. I'm thinking Humbrol model paint.
