A buyer was thinking of buying a 10-22mm lens but has asked for advice. His budget is £500. What lens would suit from the Canon range within this price range? It is going on a Canon EOS 30D

He writes I am not sure this is the lens i

Hopefully you guys can help, I am not sure what lens would suit? Ian.

lol @ quoting prices to kerso, why does that seem odd.

Sounds like the 10-22 would cover it well for me, I have found the Sigma 10-20 usefull for similar kind of things. They might stuggle if the planes and things are quite high though as 22mm wont have that much reach.

it won't fit my 5 either Ian :D

the 10-22 would be ideal in aero museums, I found my 17-40 wasn't nearly wide enough on a 20d during a recent trip to Cosford

Much better on the 5 though

His only problem using an ultra wide lens very close up will be distortion, at 10mm an aircraft could look pretty weird. It might be a better idea to use a longer focal length and stitch shots together afterwards.

Ian - I have a 30d and 10-22 lens that you recently sold me, and they do work together, and I can't see any other way of getting whole planes in shot in a crammed museum without something this wide..
If you want to give him my contact details, I am happy to try to help, but please stress that am no expert !!

Thanks for all replies, buyer has gone with a 10-22mm. Regards Ian.
