Help! Torn between 550D and 50D!!

I just recently picked up a used 40D for £400, upgrading from a smaller body like the 400D and it was a big noticable difference. Why not get a used 40D and with the £800 left over get a decent lens, like the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM or 24-105mm f/4 L. I think if you spent £1200 on a body, you'd be pretty devastated when you come to realise that you don't have the lens to go with it, if anything you should spend more on the lens and get it before you upgrade the body.

Thats exactly what I've been thinking... I'm going for a 50D to get me out of the XXXD area for a start. Decently priced at £649.

I'm having fun choosing lens' to be honest... cant wait to get out in good weather though when my treats arrive! :)
