OK, although i am still relatively new to photography, i have been quite busy in trying various different aspects. I have found that i really enjoy Fashion/portraiture and Sports photography. I have also assisted at a wedding with more planned for next year and am aspiring to cover a few weddings on my own.

So here is my question to you all. I currently have a 30D, which is a great camera and suits me fine for anything sports wise i do. Am i missing out though when using this for Fashion/Portraiture and any wedding work i do? I was considering getting a 5D and using my 30D for sports and as a backup camera as the 5D doesn't have the FPS rate for sport. OR Should i consider getting a 1D MK3 and selling the 30D to fund it? :help:

You're talking Canon's here so I'm not that familiar with the differences between models however what I do know is that the kit you need for weddings/portraits and the kit best suited for sports photography differ sufficiently for me to question whether you should concentrate on one until you're earned enough to justify the other?

A 70-200 f:2.8 will be used for both, but focal lengths up to that are the order of the day for weddings, plus flashes etc, while fast focal lengths above that, plus telecons etc are the order of the day for sports.

I have a 70-200 2.8 IS and the 1.4x TC, a 580EX plus various other lenses, so i am covered on the lens side of things

Lots of wedding togs use a 5D with fast lenses saying that the skin tones are reproduced beautifully and its high ISO performance.

Sports togs like 30D/40D for its x1.6 crop factor and high burst rate.

Get the 5D. It's excellent for weddings. And as a wedding tog you will need a good backup cam. The 30D can be that.

And get an ABBC. It costs next to nothing and softens direct flash light and shadows.
