Hi, I was at Soccer Aid last night and my Lens suddenly got an error after taking a picture. It's not been dropped, dinged etc. I tried taking it off and reseating it but nothing.

Camera body was my backup nikon D60. Body seems to be ok as had no problem with my Nikon 18-105.

Can anyone suggest any fixes? Or has it gone to lens heaven? :-(

I assume this isn't a lens with its own aperture ring?

Have you tried cleaning the electrical contacts?

No aperture ring.

I've tried cleaning the contacts with a microfibre cloth and that's not done anything.

I've tried my Lens on my d90 body and nothing :-(

Try using a rubber (eraser) on the lens contacts. A cloth might not be aggressive enough to remove any stubborn deposits. Just be careful not to get any rubber debris on the glass or in your camera.

Try the above first.
My Siggy 70-300 did this a couple of times, I turned the camera off, took the lens off the camera, took the battery out, put it back, refitted the lens and all worked fine.

Tried a rubber, still not working. I think there might be a problem with the aperture stick as it doesn't seem to go all the way back to its normal position :-( I don't want to force it.

I'm gonna try taking it to Real Camera Co in Manchester, see if they can do anything with it. If not guess I'll be on the look out for a new lens
