Hi guy's got a problem with my D300,went to the Marwell Zoo TP meet today was'nt particularly warm probably about 7/8 degree's within 5 minutes my camera refused to Auto focus checked all the usual settings ect nothing out of the ordinary whatever i done it would'nt A/F had to use it in manual which is'nt much fun trying to take shots of animals.Anyway used my backup D80 no problems.
When i got home i went through all the settings again could'nt really find anything wrong but then A/F just started working again, this got me thinking could it be a temperature related problem,so i tried leaving the camera outside for approximately 10 mins temperature probably approx 4/5 degrees so not overly cold and sure enough A/F stopped working again seems to also happen when the camera is tilted back is there a mercury switch in the D300?
Any idea what this could be ?i'm pretty sure it's gonna have to back to Nikon but i'd like to get some info if anyone could help.
Many thanks Lee.

I have had this problem with the 70-200mm fitted and a converter on. it was a contact problem between converter and lens..
