Hi Folks,

I recently bought a 50d and stupidly forgot to look at the file quality it was shooting in and after taking some snaps of my nephews first day at school when i tried to transfer the photos and it didn't work i was a bit perplexed and worried. The files were showing as CR2 files which i didn't know existed and when i've googled it i realised they were raw files and i've made a major blunder.

I've got Photoshop CS4 at home but i don't use it at all but when i tried to open the files it says it can't complete the request as it's not the right type of document.

Is there anything else i can do to convert these to jpeg files so i can view them and print them off for my younger sister? She'll be so disappointed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

Scott

Download a free copy of Lightroom and use it to manage the raw and export as jpeg.

Then buy Lightroom and keep shooting in raw ;)

Use the bundles software supplied. Open up the Digital Photo Professional and use the batch conversion under the file tab to change to jpegs

:plusone: nothing else needed and no money to spend.

Adobe DNG Converter is free....

Adobe DNG Converter 8.1.

The Adobe DNG Converter is a free utility that enables you to easily convert camera-specific raw files from more than 350 cameras to the more universal DNG raw format.

Digital Negative was developed to address the lack of an open standard for the proprietary and unique raw files created by each digital camera. DNG allows photographers to archive their raw camera files in a single format for easy cataloging and access in the future. With the format specification freely available, any developer can build software that supports and takes advantage of DNG. For more information, visit the Digital Negative page.
