Help setting up a darkroom in a bathroom

Hello,

I've been shooting shooting film only for the past year and finally am trying to set up my first darkroom.

The thing is, I only have a bathroom as a space where I can get running water and a light tight room.

Can anyone give advice about how to run electricity to the enlarger? I think it might be best to use a RDA or power breaker circuit from outside the bathroom into the darkroom. Of course the wet and dry areas will be separate, but I don't want to trip over wires.

What about the darklight? I could use a battery one, but I'm not sure it is bright enough.

well you dont need running water ,i just have a tray with water in it ,print a few off then go into the bathroom to wash them ,as for the power use an extension lead with two sockets from a breaker,,,so you can use the safelight

oh and you only need a totaly light tight room to unload the film from the casette and put it in the dev tank ,printing is quite forgiving light wise

I've been spoilt having had a university darkroom to myself mostly for the past year. Now it's suddenly so painful trying to set up my own!

I'm used to running water ... and a darkroom without worrying about light leaks. It's a hurdle to sort this out, but once it is, that's it. I can just get on with concentrating on the work

I've set up a "darkroom" in a bathroom before. Except my bathroom had electricity with ground fault interrupt circuits as default by building code plus a sink and a bathtub.

I put a board over the bathtub for space for print trays and had access to water from the tub faucet. I could fill the print wash tray, agitate and refill right there. There was room on the sink counter space for an enlarger plus develop the negatives. The shower curtain rod was a great place to hang the negatives to dry plus clip the 120 roll of film to remove the backing for loading it onto the tank reel. Overall, the space worked quit well. I take it your bathroom is not like that?

Too right. I dont' have a bath in my bathroom!

Just a shower unit. I can work a Nova vertical print processor here for prints. They're great space savers Otherwise, I will have to stand in the developing tray, in order to get them in the room.
