Having obtained a S/H Manfrotto tripod to replace my less than robust Velbon I now nead a ball head.

The heaviest kit it would have to carry would be my 7D with a canon 100 - 400 zoom.

Any "robustness and "value for money" advice would be appreciated.

Value for money - RSH12 Ballhead and its not bad...you get a decent head for cheap ofcourse it is not RRS stuff.;)

Do you or or anyone else on here use this make and model? It certainly inplies ,at a load on 10kg, that it is robuse enough. Does it stand the test of time and keep its "tightness"?

Cost more than my full tripod
here

This seems too good to be true, I'm half tempted to get one as a back up!!

Haw do you get on with it and how robust is the head, which is really all I need.

Its really sturdy and well made, I love it. Weighs a fair bit, but I don't mind that being a 17st lad.
The action is smooth and the QRP works superbly.

I am no expert, but I would recommend this to anyone. Plus its Amazon 30 day no quibble return policy if you don't like it.

I have used it last year. It is a good and heavy head built well and should last. Since then changed to RRS head and carbon fibre tripod due to weight issues..;)

I use a manfrotto 496RC2 ball head and have found it to be good. Rated up to 6Kgs which I think is more than enough for lens/body combo. Costs less than £50.00
