HELP... Removal of C Mount on C/FD lens

OK, In the search for a cheap Macro lens set I've Purchased a FD-EF converter and a Vivitar 100mm FD lens. The lens has arrived as a C/FD mount lens.

this will not fit onto the FD-EF adapter, therefore I assume this is currently configured to C-Mount ?

This consists of a raised section with 1 large and one small metal "pins" a small plastic mound and a silver screw.

I assume that this can be removed to make the lens FD mount ? it appears that the Converter would fit the lens if this raised section was missing.

Has anyone got any experience of removing this mount, this lens or a link to a relevant website. the Instructions that came with the lens give no details.

just for you all to laugh at, I'd tried to fit the adapter the wrong way around DOH!!!!
