My children have their school sports day today. Pretty cloudy here so will up the ISO. Any other advice to get some good shots?

Thank you :)

Cloudy is good, no harsh shadows! Just enjoy it and make sure you get down to their level when taking shots.

Beware of the PC brigade though, having a decent camera will obviously mean your intentions are less than honourable. :shake:

not easy being discreet is it!! now if I use my mobile phone camera thats ok:eek:

I may still have one of these you can conceal your dslr in.

Dont worry about other parents, as long as the teachers / head are happy with you shooting then tell the parents where to get off - i do :bat: :D

I photographed a 5 a side tournament a few weeks ago, 14 to 18 yr olds. It was something we had organised and we got all parents, kids etc to sign disclaimers in case we wanted to publish any photos that would be taken.
A couple of parents then mumbled to my colleagues seemingly not too happy about me taking the photos ( no one approached me, and I was all over the place with my official name badge, D200 and 70-200 f2.8 Not something you can hide!
They were told I was the official photographer and reminded they had all signed the disclaimer. Smiles all round then, they were happy.

I suggest you get approval from the school, then either have a PRESS card tucked into the band on your hat or get a badge made up that says " official photographer" Seems all they want is confirmation that you are ok, and the confirmation word "official" somewhere on your person dispels all fears.
Good luck

Unfortunately the heavens opened and rain stopped play:( Well it is Wimbledon after all!

Only a couple of races. Hopefully I've managed to get a couple of half decent shots.

No-one said a word to me either  so no need to modify my mobile slipperone!!

sorry to hear about the rain.
how very english summer

Sounds like our school sports day. Rained off after 10 mins this year, but I sat at the end of the track, taking photos no problem. The school have a good policy about photos, and any shots I take that have other kids in, will never see light of day beyond my PC.
