Two months ago I started a change of life eating plan. I was so proud to watch my eldest daughter graduate but when I saw the photographs I realised how massive I had become :help:

I stepped onto our scales and as they only went to 23 stone they just groaned over load.

Off to town to buy some bigboy scales...back home and I weighed in at 24 st 7lb -jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjesis I thought!!!!:nono::nono:

The realisation dawned that if I did not do something I would not live to see my youngest daughter - who is 4 graduate. So I started to read up and now with the 8 week anniversary coming up this Sunday I stood on the scales this morning and weighed in at 22st 9lb. 2lb more and I will have dropped 2 stone in 2 months. :):):)

Well done  Thats all most of us need ,that little bit bit of realization to give us the push we need .Keep up the good work

Nice one. Keep up the good work.

Thats brilliant!

Coming from someone who weighs in at just over 18st can i ask how you did it?

Was it mainly a good diet or excericise?

Nice :) you can take your camera and go out for walks to get some nice photos. You get to have fun AND lose weight!

Thanks everyone.

How am I doing it.........

I am eating more. I am making sure I have three good meals a day of about 300-400 cals a meal. Coffee is not black and not white with sugar. When I think of things I might have liked before but are too many calories, using self hypnosis all I now see is maggots growing out of them.

But one thing I never allow myself to feel is hungry

Congratulations stew, keep up the good work!

That's excellent - keep it up!

That is brilliant, as some encouragement - I did my change of life plan a year ago on 28th October - joined gym on a real slow twice a week plan - now up to just under two x2 hour sessions a week and change of eating and am 2lb short of a 4 stone weight loss :)

Well done matey, keep up the good work! I decided to go for a run last night for the first time in about 5 years!! Really enjoyed it but didn't last very long, hopefully with time I'll improve.

well done!

eating habits is the best thing to hit first so you're on the right lines.

See if you can fit in some cardio exercise at some point, be it running, cycling or swimming :)

best of luck

Thanks everyone and well done Samphire, it must feel so good

congratulations! well done for getting this far. Onwards and downwards ;)

Congratulations for losing that much, I must admit to being suprised at you being that weight as I associate 20 stone+ as being someone quite large and you did not look that big when I met you!

Congratulations Stew and Samphire. I'm overweight and I know how hard it is to get started on a diet. Maybe after this weeks holiday I'll join you both. If I do I'll post on here to encourage me to keep it up.:) You are an inspiration see.:clap:

keep at it artona , it will be worth it  , as an aside , i have found out why my weight was going up , complete total and utter boredom at work for the last 6 months , nothing to do except eat , sit at a desk and surf the internet , i am now without a job but the weight is coming off as i can do what i want to do , well mostly anyway :suspect: , need to find another job though , hopefully it will be more stimulating than the end of the last one

Thanks for all the support, it really helps to keep me on track.

Hi - massive congratulations on your dieting and weight loosing :)

I am 25 and 14 stone, i need to loose some weight and more importantly, some bad habits if i want a happy and full life

I have just started swimming daily (in the morning, it is great fun and i am finding it really easy to fit it in with my usual routine)

I am still having problems with the snacking, but at least i am doing some exercise now :)

I am also gymming in the week when i can and generally trying to be alot more active, i got overweight very quickly as i became depressed and when i am depressed... i eat...

i will be doing 365 as soon as my new camera arrives where i will catologue my size change (not doing it by weight loss)

Am hoping to fit into my clothes better by Winter Solstice (Chrimbo) and be back to a size 12/14 by Spring Equinox (Easter) when i am going on holiday to Bali

i hope we can all help eachother :)

Good luck xxx

Hi Feeb

Eat more, seriously eat more. If you are snacking you are hungry. I buy frozen meals, check the calories are 300 - 500 cals and make sure I have one for lunch and one for dinner. I have veg with them. Breakfast is cereal. Coffee is now black and no sugar.

If you are hungry eat but eat food not rubbish. Prepare your food correctly. If you want a bacon sandwich have one but cut the fat off and wipe the bacon with clean kitchen paper after frying in olive oil.

Excercise only if you want to and enjoy it. If it is a chore you will not last

Charge like in rhino and you will do it.

Finally when you are on your own lay on you bed and imagine the bad food you crave for. Squeeze your index finger and thumb together as tightly as you can and allow yourself to imagine that food with what ever makes you sick - maggots, spiders, the dog puke all over that food, what ever.

If you ever crave it in future squeeze that finger and thumb together to switch those images on :eek:

Impressive. I hadn't realised how much that is until I bumped into nan old workmate of mine last week who's dropped 2 stone 2lb and looks like a different man.

I'll bet you're buzzing aren't you? :D

Its great Chris, really great but its going to be eveeeeeeeeeeeeen greater :):)

Hiya - am not resenting the exercise at all, am really enjoying it infact :) Its also really good for my back and shoulders which is great, they have been suffering recently :(

The food issue is a problem, i am used to snacking in the evening and its a hard habit to break... will try the meditation though thanks :)

my new camera should help, nothing helps like a distraction :)

Also doing the 365... will be interesting to see how much i loose :)

Note to Nikon: target women who feel they have a weight problem.

Note to Canon (Lens Sales): continue targeting men with penis envy.

I'd suggest 5 small meals a day instead of 3 larger ones. That way your body will be able to use whatever nutrients it wants without any surplus which could be stored as fat. I'd also drink alot of water, this can help you feel full and not hungry as well as flushing out your system. I'd beware of eating too many frozen meals, they tend to be higher in salt/sodium content than necessary which won't be doing your heart any favours. Personally I never eat anything after 8:00pm.

Evenings were a stuggle for me, but I do not by the snacks and will not allow myself food after 9pm. ... glass of wine yeah .. food no lol

Update - darn well blew it on Sunday. Wifey offered me a sausage sandwich on saturday and like a fool I accepted. She pushed it in on a trolley it was so huge!! Sunday morning she did not ask, she just made me a bacon mountain, same trolley used.

Then having taken our daughter swimming she wanted a chinese. The local Oriental Express is eat as much as you like - Chinese one side, Indian the other so of course I had both.

Yesterday was dreadful. I was out shooting all day and had to make constant trips to the loo, after 2 months of healthy eating my insides were not having so much junk.......

I felt awful, remembering how I used to feel back when I was eating far too much, that is two months ago.

However this morning I hit the 2 stone loss so I am feeling much better about it all again :D:D:D

The Paul McKenna method makes sense to me.

Although he has expanded it into a couple of books and a CD, the actual advice is basically three points:

1. Eat what you want.
2. Eat when you are hungry.
3. Stop when you are full.

The third point is the important one. We tend to eat too quickly and ignore our body telling us we are full so he suggests eating slowly, even putting the fork down between mouthfulls. Also, some of us may have been brought up to finish everything on our plate and not waste anything. This can be a difficult habit to break.

Steve.

It's not difficult - cut out as much pre-processed food as possible - gradually lower your sodium intake as well as your sugar intake - if you feel like snacking eat fresh fruit rather than a biscuit or choccys...
Have cereal and toast for breakfast with fresh or canned fruit (not the kind in syrup - just juice); salad and tuna or white meat cold-cuts for lunch and a small meal for dinner...
Gradually make the portions smaller - that way you train your stomach to expect less food as the stomach shrinks...

The key is to do it gradually - your system is used to eating a certain amount - cut down too drastically and you'll (a) get ill and (b) put the weight straight back on as soon as you 'stop' dieting...

Walk anywhere that's within three miles.

Drink lots of water - it'll help fill your stomach and fool your body into feeling 'full-up' as well as helping purge toxins from the system.

The other thing is to not think of it as a diet - just that you're now going to eat less and more healthliy - for ever.

The point about drinking lots of water is an amazing bit of advice. Not only does it help you to feel full and purge those toxins, but a fully hydrated body works at its full potential thus being able to burn fats and process foot more effectivly.

Also, swimming is amazing to help get fit, lose weight at a steady pace and also build up muscle under the fat.

Well done though buddy. Keep at it, i know its hard work but it will be worth it in the end. Sadly, it will cost a fortune getting all new clothes when you lose all the weight

Congrats. I had to do it the easier way (Per say :P ) I was 8 stone at around 5 foot 7 and had to gain weight as I was classed underweight on the BMI Scale, but now a (Just) healthy 9 3/4 stone at 5 foot 9.
