I am using photoshop cs5 and I have finished editing a photo I want to use but unless you zoom in you can't see how powerful the models eyes are. I have zoomed in and they look amazing but I want to keep the photo zoomed in. How do I save it like that??

Sorry for the poor communication of

It hard to describe over the Internet.

Say you have zoomed into an images on photoshop. I want it to save 'zoomed in' x

Zoom into the image and make sure youve got what you want on the screen and then crop it and save it

Make a selection of the area you want copy that, ie contrl A, contrl C, the make a new file it will make it the same as your clipboard/copy when opened new doc, then paste contrl V it

The photos above are my first modelling photos. This little boy was on casualty last night.
He's a brilliant little actor and has gorgeous eyes.

Ruth,

Nice images but you need to automate your watermarking ... or learn to spell check it :D

It's a nice headshot, the crop doesn't emphasise his eyes in the way you'd hoped. A little PP of the original file might do wonders (subtle sharpening and whitening).

For a proper headshot I'd also do a little skin work (again subtly). Also not really sure that the B&W conversion is the best it could be (is it simply a desaturate?).

If I was shooting it I'd have lit it a little more directionally, but that's picky. Proper PP would give the photo you took a real chance. look at this thread here.

I use Phatch (on Linux) as a great tool to produce publishable copies with a consistent "brand": border, watermark etc ... and have it set up to make different res copies suitable for different outlets ... and as a dyslexic I get my O/H to proof read any alterations to text!

@bri that's how I spell my company name. Lol

you have a company???

I agree the imaged does need some PP eyes need to be a lttle whiter and its a tad soft focus wise for me

Company business or what ever you photo boffins like to call it. 😝Lol

I think he was not questioning the phrase 'company', but was inferring that someone who doesn't know how to crop a picture shouldn't be operating as a professional photographer.

I am not operating as a professional photographer.
Bit harsh saying I don't no how to crop a photo. Most people on here arnt even pro themselves but love to say they are.
Least I have the guts to admit I ain't!!

I'm not trying to have a go at you but,

1. You started this thread asking how to crop a photo, so I assumed you didn't know how to do it.

2. Why do you have a photography 'company' or 'business' if you are not operating as a professional photographer?

Ruth, please don't take offence, the guys aren't trying to have a go at you. Your watermark and your 'company' comment would indicate that you are running a business and charging for your photography, whilst basic questions such as the one posted here and only a basic understanding of pp work would point to you still being very much in the learning stages, possibly not ready yet to be 'professional' [as in, charging for your work] This is based simply on what you have posted here, if the situation is different, explaining things might help. :)

So, a quick tip - caught on camera sounds like a good name, but should you go on to want a website to initially show off and then maybe sell your services in the future, you will find all the .com/.co.uk versions are already taken as it is a bit of an 'obvious' name. So, if you are building a portfolio with a view to having a 'company' you might want to consider that now and look at possible alternatives.

Hope that helps.

Whether you have a company or not, spelling "photography" right in your watermarks should be on the top of your list of things to sort out.

all the top rated "caught on camera" sites are all to do with the police catching people up to no good :lol::lol:

I don't charge for my work, all my work is free as I am building up my portfolio for when i start college in September.
I don't want to have a website and I just thought by putting a watermark on my photo would jazz it up a bit.

About the cropping side of things, I no how to crop a photo but I just wanted to no how to make the photo bigger so that people would focus on the eyes a bit more.

Ruth, you do appear to ask advice and not listen to the answers.
A bigger issue than whether you are a 'company' or not is the fact that its spelt incorrectly on the first picture. You got tied up in the argument rather than address that.

Cropping the image makes it cramped, it doesn't achieve what you wanted it to. It's a common newbie mistake along with selective colour and fake blur.

Leave the breathing space around the picture and process it properly and his eyes will draw the attention. Most of the reason his eyes aren't drawing attention is the bad B&W conversion. There are loads of photoshop tutorials about how to make eyes 'pop', generally it's overdone, but if you learn the techniques, you can tone it to your taste.

If you post an original colour version of the image I'd be happy to show its potential.

I hope that Ruth takes up your generous offer of help Phil as i would be interested to see how you change it.

Thread getting harsh...I think the OP has just been misunderstood, let her try and explain again and then start from their !
