i have just purchased a 6x9 photo machine and i need a camera to go with it, its only going to be used for taking pictures of the general public alongside the darts players i was just wondering if anyone knew the best option buying wise

thank you

depends what sort of quality and artistic/creative control you want.

if you just want a few snaps of players standing next to the dartboard not moving too much then practically any mid range compact up to a prosumer DSLR will do exactly what you want, all with their own set of advantages and disadvantages.

what's your budget?

this kind of thing

If you want to go the SLR route £500-£600 would buy you;
Canon EOS 1000D with 18-55 is kit lens
Canon Speedlite 430 flashgun
and give you a bit of change for a card and a bag.

Alternatively something like the Fuji HS10 might do the trick, get good quality shots with it and you can play around with speeds and apertures.

hi

would this suit my needs then i am going to buy tomorrow

theres so many cameras out there mate, the best thing you can do is go into a camera shop and ask to have a look at all the cameras + lens within your price range. they will all be slightly different shapes/sizes/weight and then you can pick one that feels the nicest to hold. also look at the controls, i have a Nikon D90 which has a control wheel at the front and one at the back on the right hand side of the camera so in manual i can easily and quickly change the shutter speed with 1 and the aperture with the other. you want to have a play with the controls and pick one that feels comfortable for you to use. dont forget to keep some cash for a memory card and any other accesories you might want. also you can get some grat deals second hand, theres a link at the top right hand corner of this forum that sell used camera equiptment there also might be shops near you that sell used cameras. hope this hels, dan.
