I'm no expert on flash guns but do not fix it your hot shoe until you know for certain that it is compatible with your camera as I believe the voltage can vary and you could end up causing damage to your body.

I'm sure someone will chime in with more detailed knowledge soon.

As Hacker says the trigger voltages of old flash guns can be very high, and damage the camera.

Ive had a quick look around and the trigger voltage of the D425 is approx 12v. I think the safe value for canon digitals is 6v.

If I was you I wouldnt put it near my camera until this can be confirmed.

The values stated above are from the internet and need comfirming from a reputable source.

Update - Just checked and the 10D maximum trigger voltage is 6v so DON'T USE IT with out comfirming the D425 trigger voltage.

You could always get a SafeSync to regulate the voltage to 5v.

:thankyou:
although i did put it on yesterday and try it . only a couple of flashes :cuckoo: everything seems ok at the moment anyway ,
i wont be putting it back on ill wait for a proper flash
again thank you for taking the time and the information..

You can use a safe sync which goes on the hot shoe and the flash goes in that.

I think you will only get a full power flash from it, or you would have to adjust the amount of flash manually on the flash its self.

you wont get any auto functions at all.

thanks mate .
