Edit My Images
Yes
iam not into messing (processing my pics ) but i keep seeing comments with posted pictures that they have tweaked the sky or altered the saturation of the sky etc how do you do that without altering the whole picture can you just touch up parts ?

dpp which came with camera and Microsoft digital processing

Hmmmmm I haven't used those, it can be done in either Lightroom or Photoshop or GIMP (free ) but you need a program where you can select a part of the image and isolate the changes (GIMP/ Pshop) or use a brush (Lightroom)

Sorry I can't be of more help

I think while you view it as messing you will always struggle, regardless of software. If you want to start processing your images in more professional manner (sorry, that sounds a bit rude, but not meant to be) there are a few packages that you should evaluate, to see which works best for you.

Personally, I use photoshop CS3 and ACR plugin to process in a non destructive manner so that I can always step backwards if something doesn't work too well. All processing is done as an 'adjustment layer', which if necessary you can add a 'mask' to so that it only affects certain portions of the image.

maybe if i got more help i may try harder

If you are using DPP one option is to use the styles menu within the camera.

For example selection "Landscape" gives an automatic saturation and sharpness boost to the image, when it is processed in DPP. Can't comment on the Microsoft program as I don't use it.

Also don't forget that the Styles menus are not set in stone, you can also adjust them to your own personal requirements. However doing a bit of work in DPP after the event is part of the photographic process. Don't be afraid to experiment.

I THINK I SHOULD CHANGE THE TITTLE TO I FIND IT HARD TO DO THE PROCESSING OF MY PICTURES AND WHY IVE GOT THE CAPS LOCK ON I,LL NEVER NO  you guys seem to make it look and sound easy

Hi Gary, things only look and sound easy once they've been practised a few times. I'd download Gimp, it's free to use and have a play with it. Concentrate on layers, masks and selections, read tutorials, ask in here if you get stuck.
Then you can decide if you like processing images :)

You need to be able to select just part of the image and ajust that independantly of the rest (say the sky) I don't think DPP can do that ? (don't use it) photoshop is a popular choice for this.
Take this pic for example, if I crank up the contrast for the foreground I'll loose the sky, and if I darken for the sky, the foreground will be too dark. So what I'd do is select the sky and ajust that, here I darkened it, then select the forground, and lighten that and add contrast. Then you see the "finished" pic, although I'd go on a lot further with burning dodging ect if thsi was a pic I was going to use.
The area in red shows the selected area, I have "feathered it" meaning the edge is softened so theres no hard join after editing the bit selected. Wayne

Try looking at some high street photography magazines, they have tutorials in them and ona disk with step by steps for you to follow or try google. You should find loads on there.

Good luck and believe me we all have to start some where, stick with it and in 6 months you will be laughing to yourself
