Help please,my images are not showing on my PC

Will try to explain this,on my PC if i open say the my pictures folder all the folders inside show as empty,if i open one there are just loads of small empty boxes where the thumbnail image should be with the image number under them, i can view no images on my desk top,if i open a editing program then open one of these small image boxes the picture that should be there opens into the program.
This looks like the images are still there but not viewable unless in a editing program any help please.

Just add ime on windows 10

View Tab > Options > Change Folder and View Options ... make sure "Always show icon never thumbnails" is not ticked.

Yeah.... one of the annoying things of Windows 10.

You do nothing but it does loads you never asked it to do. I blame the brutal, sledge-hammer, Micro$oft approach to so-called 'security updates'.

They seem to think you 'don't know what you're doing with xyz so we're going to set it like we think it should be'

I spent an age wondering why I couldn't set my 'puter so Sleep - Windows changed it 'fatal shut-down' - Ok, I'm dramatising but it's so annoying.

Well i may have solved it,i have photoshop cc but a mate ask me somethings about elements 14, so i downloaded and installed a trial yesterday morning,just thought i would uninstall it and halfway through the uninstall all my images came back.

Ah, right click the thumbnail Properties and associate with Photoshop?
