Guys, a couple of months back I bought the above meter second hand on another website. It didn't come with instructions so i viewed a few tutorials etc on how to use it.

Last time i tried to use it, it just wouldn't meter anything. It just pops up with a symbol En. According to their website, it indicates that the levels are too high and need adjusting.

First job i did was change the battery, yet the same scenario happens. Ive tried it under different light conditions and the same code appears.

The problems I have are as follows.

I have no idea how to clear this symbol, adjust the meter to compensate for it, or whether it is just fubarred.

Its not been dropped or banged or anything bad like that.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Has anyone had similar symptoms and been able to resolve it. Does it need to go in the bin??

I would appreciate your help as i literally do not have a clue.

Many thanks,

Does it display En when you first put the battery in, think it should go through a checking process. Also does it appear no matter what function you select along the top such as t, f, ev or just with the flash symbol?

Thanks Tijuana. When you insert the battery, it does a self test. Then goes onto the normal metering screen. The only mode it doesn't show En is on flash symbol. And it only comes on once you press the M button regardless of which mode you are in (except flash)

"E" means error; "u" means too dark and "n" means too bright. If you are getting the "n" use the down arrow to bring the settings w/in range. BTW, it's not actually a "u" or an "n," it's a bracket with the legs pointing in the direction it needs to be adjusted.

thanks SK66, i have read the manual and yes i had seen that bit. I have tried pressing the corresponding up and down arrow and nothing happens. (keyboard limitations make us use U and n for the brackets lol.) I'm testing in a dull room under a normal 60w lightbulb, so it should not be saying 'too light'

im all out of ideas.

Me too, was expecting to only be on the flash symbol and not the other way round. I had a Luna Pro which is very similar, but don't recall seeing this problem.

Just out of interest when you press the down arrow, what range is it showing?

Never looked into it myself, but is there a reset button anywhere to get back to factory default?

Sorry, just can't think of anything else apart from its knackered

It doesn't show anything when you press be down arrow. Nothing changes. There is no reset button. I'm Stumped.

Me too, repair if economically viable or the bin seem like the only options available to you, bummer!!
